Bishop Gadsen

Bishop Gadsden is a full CCRC through the addition of a residential and community center and the expansion of an existing nursing and assisted living facility on a 48-acre site in Charleston, South Carolina. This facility exhibits all the qualities of historic Charleston from beautiful landscape gardens and courtyards to unique, spacious cottages styled after the Charleston “single house.” The 60,000 SF Georgian Commons Building includes a full range of club-like facilities including a fitness center and indoor pool. The addition of 154 apartments created a charming blend of modern convenience in the comfortable southern style of Old Charleston. In addition to designing the Assisted Living building, Duncan Walker served as Principal in Charge while at CSD, Architect of Record.
